The Ocean Street Sewer Project is nearing completion.  Monterey Peninsula Engineering may still be doing minor work on the side streets or in the manholes.  As always, please drive safely.  Another update will be posted when the project is complete.

PAVING WORK UPDATE


Monterey Peninsula Engineering will be paving Ocean Street on Friday, May 17, 2013 from Washburn Ave to Blaine St.  This work also includes some paving on Blaine St.
Parking may temporarily be removed in some areas - designated by a Temporary No Parking sign.  Lane merging on Ocean St is expected and some turns may be restricted during construction hours.  Expect some delays in both North and South directions.

Please drive with caution.

UPDATES

MPE is working on Hubbard St between Ocean St. and May Ave to reconnect sewer laterals. Hubbard St. will be open to residents only during construction hours.

Work on Washburn Ave will continue and will be closed from the Ocean St side; Washburn Ave residences can be accessed by using May Avenue.

Ocean St will be open in both directions but may reduce to a single lane at times and turns may be restricted while crews do paving work.  The expected schedule is as follows (but may change due to special circumstances):
Thursday, 5/16/13 - Paving work on Ocean St from Pryce St to Washburn Ave
Friday, 5/17/13 - Paving work on Ocean St from Washburn Ave to Blaine St (including paving on Blaine St).

Please be aware that parking may be prohibited in some areas on Ocean St or the side streets in order to stage equipment and materials (designated by temporary No Parking signs).

Construction work will continue on Ocean St, North of Highway 1.  Today, Monterey Peninsula Engineering is constructing a new manhole near Ocean and Graham Hill Road.  Both directions will remain open to traffic and both on/off ramps for Highway 1 will also remain open.
 
 
 

Work has also begun on Felker St.  Residents will still have access during construction hours.  Temporary No Parking signs have been posted in some areas along Felker St.

Please use caution when driving through the construction zones.  Thank you.

Monterey Peninsula Engineering is scheduled to continue bursting the sanitary sewer main pipe on Ocean St (from Highway 1, north toward Graham Hill Rd).  This work will take place throughout the week.

Traffic control may be in place during construction hours.  Some delays can be expected, so please plan accordingly.

SPRING BREAK

Beginning Monday, March 25, 2013 and ending Friday, April 5, 2013 Monterey Peninsula Engineering will NOT be performing any construction work on Ocean Street South of Highway 1 (toward the beach).

This is intended to improve traffic flow during Spring Break.

MPE will continue to do work on Ocean St (North of Hwy 1 toward Graham Hill Road) and possibly on the side streets shown in the project area map.

Please check back often for the most recent updates on construction locations during Spring Break.

Santa Cruz Police Department - Memorial Procession Route

A Memorial Procession is scheduled for Thursday, March 7.  The police procession begins at 8:45 AM at the Boardwalk's Third Street parking lot and will travel along Ocean Street to Highway 17.  No parking is allowed on Ocean Street prior to and during the procession.

There will be NO CONSTRUCTION on Ocean Street on Thursday, March 7.

Monterey Peninsula Engineering will begin work on Blaine Street:  Please be advised that traffic and parking may be impacted.

Work is progressing on Ocean St.

South bound traffic will be temporarily impacted due to an open-trench installation of the new sanitary sewer main pipe; two new sanitary sewer manholes will also be constructed in this section.
